The functions of our MMOs

While working, our MMOs may also be required to:

  • Provide advice relating to environmental management

  • Attend operations meetings

  • Contribute to the Environmental Impact Evaluation for the project

  • Meet with regulatory and industrial authorities and environmental NGOs

  • Raise environmental awareness among the crew

Our MMOs do not enforce compliance with regulations; on the contrary their knowledge of biology and their firm attachment to regulations make them a resource for operators, somebody who works with them to help them to comply with guidelines.  The mission of the MMO is that of facilitator, not inhibitor.

Data collection and reporting always maintain highest standards and are 100% in line with facts, since it may be subject to legal and scientific review.  Our MMOs have the integrity, the knowledge and the professionalism to comply with standards, as they are a key link between operators and regulators.

Our MMOs are also capable of giving talks and making presentations on the species observed, regulations, or any other educational topic.

While working, the MMOs must be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, able to respond quickly.  They must also be available for consultation and to advise on whether and how to implement appropriate mitigation measures, even in areas without specific regulations, but where operators wish to take a cautious or "best practices" approach.
